Thesis: Anton Chekhov's unique style allowed little room to directors and actors to develop his or her own interpretation. Unlike Shakespeare, Chekhov's plays had to be played the way Anton wanted them to be played. This style of writing was of his own creation and has greatly influenced present day theatre.
